RMAR submission deadline
FCA · Semi-annually · 30 business days after each half-year end
The Retail Mediation Activities Return (RMAR) is due within 30 business days of the end of each reporting period. Most sections are reported at least twice a year, with periods set by your accounting reference date.
An estimate set on or before the deadline. Bank holidays can push the real date a few days later.
Who has to submit it
- Firms with permission for insurance distribution in non-investment insurance contracts
- Firms with permission for home finance mediation
- Personal investment firms and other investment firms that advise retail customers
Reporting periods
Periods run for six months and end on your accounting reference date and six months before it. With a 31 March year end, periods end on 31 March and 30 September, so returns are due in May and November.
Thirty business days is at least six calendar weeks, and longer when bank holidays fall inside the window.
What it covers
The return is submitted in RegData and covers your balance sheet, profit and loss, client money and assets, regulatory capital and financial resources, professional indemnity insurance, training and competence, COBS data, supplementary product sales and fees data. Which sections you complete depends on your permissions.
The complaints return is due at the same time
Under DISP 1.10, firms report complaints twice a year on periods set by their accounting reference date, within 30 business days of each period end. If you had no reportable complaints you still submit a nil return.
Get reminded before it's due
Regmindr tracks this and the rest of your FCA calendar, and emails your team before each deadline. Set it up from your year end in about two minutes.
