How a subscription works

Each calendar is a link your calendar app checks for changes, usually about once a day. It holds the last 3 months of deadlines and the next 15, so new dates appear as the year moves on and a correction to a rule reaches your calendar without you doing anything.

Every deadline is an all-day event with a reminder before it's due, a summary of what to do and a link to the page that explains the rule.

Adding one

  • Google Calendar: choose Google Calendar from the menu and confirm on the page that opens. Subscriptions are added on the web; they then show on your phone too.
  • Outlook: choose Outlook.com for a personal account, or Outlook for Microsoft 365 for a work account, and confirm the calendar's name.
  • Apple Calendar: choose Apple Calendar on a Mac, iPhone or iPad and confirm the subscription.
  • Anything else: copy the link and add it as a calendar from a URL, sometimes called an internet calendar or ICS link.

What it leaves out

Deadlines that fall on your own dates, such as a PI insurance renewal or the ICO fee, aren't in the calendar since there's nothing to work them out from. Deadlines counted in business days are estimates set on or before the real date, as bank holidays can move them.

To track those too, with an owner for each deadline and the evidence once it's done, use Regmindr.

Remind the person responsible

A calendar shows you what's due. Regmindr emails the owner of each deadline before it's due, moves every date on each year and keeps the evidence once it's filed.
