FSA056 capital adequacy return deadline
FCA · Annually · 30 business days after year end
Authorised payment institutions submit the FSA056 capital adequacy return once a year, within 30 business days of their accounting reference date (SUP 16.13.4D). Registered account information service providers file it too.
An estimate set on or before the deadline. Bank holidays can push the real date a few days later.
Small payment institutions
Small payment institutions don't file FSA056. They submit FSA057, a return of their payment transactions, once a year within one month of 31 December.
Working out the date
Count 30 business days from your financial year end. That's at least six calendar weeks, so with a 31 March year end the return is due in mid-May.
Because the date follows your accounting reference date, give the FCA reasonable notice before you change it (SUP 16.13.3C).
If you submit late
A late or incomplete return costs a £100 administrative fee under SUP 16.3.14R.
Get reminded before it's due
Regmindr tracks this alongside the rest of your compliance calendar, and emails your team before each deadline. Set it up from your year end in about two minutes.
